…the future is bright?

wandering-vagabond:

If you would have asked me a few days ago if I thought my future was bright I would have sheepishly responded “yes”. How easily our views can be changed by another’s questioning words. In a few months highschool will be finished and tossed aside like an old rag, the bright new shiny future will stand before me, and yet I am frightened. I am unsure as to what the future will hold, no matter how many plans I set in place, they can still crumble like burnt paper in my hands. The future for now is clouded over, with storm clouds forming, and I am scared.

Isn’t the fear and feeling of unsure what makes life fun and interesting. Would you like to know exactly what you would face everyday for the rest of your life? Where’s the adventure in that? So you don’t have a plan. So what! Plans are made to broken. The bumps in the road are what make life fun. The sayings “Life is a journey” or “The most fun part is the journey, not the destination” are totally true. Look at our road trip this summer. Embrace that sense of adventure I know you have and jump forward. Don’t get me wrong. I am terrified too. Some days I wish I knew exactly what to expect, but the little surprises in life are what make it interesting. Without the random things that hit me unexpectedly life would be dull. Yes, there is going to be periods of grey nothingness and periods of black in the future. But it is through those times that we appreciate the sun when it comes out and the rainbow after the storm. You know the thrill of danger or excitement during a storm? The future holds so much and the courage to face it comes from having that fear of it and embracing it anyway. It comes from meeting the thrill of excitement head on. Your life is going to be a great adventure and I’m glad that I can be a part of that journey with you, as your friend.
