Let the little children come to me
Today we spoke about our Nicaragua trip in the elementary school chapels. In the second chapel we sang the song, He Has Made Me Glad. At the end one of the teachers asked the kids if they were glad that school was almost done and if they were glad for their teachers and if they were glad for the sun. And the kids yelled out ‘yeah’ to almost everything that he said. The kids clapped and danced along to the worship songs as they sang.
I feel like we can learn so much from the children. They were genuinely interested in what we had to say. They weren’t apathetic, like a lot of the high schoolers were. They worshiped God with joy and they wanted to learn about his world. Their hearts are so full of love for each other and the world around them.
When we had a question time, they asked really good questions. One girl asked if there were homeless people where we had gone and another asked if there was enough food and if the people there were able to get food. They were concerned and wanted to help.
We can learn from the little children. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14)
